This is really short and at this stage I am not even sure if I will be able to get it on line.

I am writing from my bed, which tonight is in a field at the farm.

It is hot and gorgeous and we have spent all day swimming in the tarn at High Dam, and we decided to round it all off by dragging some old mattresses into the farmyard and sleeping out under the stars.

We smell of woodsmoke and lake water and acid soils and leaves, and we are happy and warm and tired.

It has been the nicest of times. We carried the puppies up to the tarn in the boat so that the dogs could come as well, and we are all settling down for the night as I write.

I am not going to spend any more of my lovely, lovely evening with my very nice family writing things. I will tell you about it tomorrow.

Life is the most wonderful, gorgeous, glorious time, there are bats and little sparks from the fire, we have got a bottle of pink champagne and we are as happy as it is possible to be.

  1. No comment on this, but have just picked up on yesterdays blog, and would like to say how impressed I am with Marks kitchen sink. A real tour de force. Difficult do do with all of the facilities I have got, but next to impossible with Mark’s set-up. Must show me how you did it, and how do you fancy making a plate rack?
