This is going to be a short entry because I have had some sort of charging disaster and I am here on the taxi rank with a flat computer thing that is telling me it only has 18% of its battery left to go.

This might not be anything like enough to write a whole entry and so I might have to stop halfway through. I am having some computer issues anyway at the moment, the corner keys don’t work unless I turn the thing upside down, I have not got the first idea why, although I am pleased that I discovered the turning it upside down trick.

I have only had another quiet day at home anyway, so if I do run out of battery you won’t be missing very much. I didn’t go to the farm with Mark but stayed at home and boiled the jelly.

I hope it has set enough, if I get it right it is a lovely clean jelly, if I get it wrong it is sticky, which makes it very hard to cut it into squares and coat it in chocolate, which is my master plan. If you imagine trying to drop dollops of jam into melted chocolate you will get the idea. It needs to be properly set and then it makes good wobbly jelly and is perfect.

With this in mind I boiled it for ages, all the way through the whole of the Afternoon Play on Radio 4 in fact. This was quite a restful thing to do, if a Health & Safety nightmare, boiling a huge pan of jelly when you have bare feet is an experience which encourages you to concentrate very hard indeed.

I poured it into the dish to set and left it to see what would happen. I won’t know until tomorrow if it has worked or not. I hope so because I don’t want to have to boil it again, mostly because of the tiresomeness of washing the pan.

Apart from the jelly I washed things from the weekend and tidied up and emptied rubbish bins and did housewifely things. The sun was shining, and occasionally I stood at the back door and tried to absorb a little bit of it through my jumper and apron.

When I had finished everything I went off to sit on the taxi rank until it was time to go for a swim. It is very quiet indeed now, everybody has gone back to their own homes and the Weather Gods have been able to give up on playing the Rain Game on the tourists and so the sun is out.

I have interrupted myself to go home for a charging lead for this which I have plugged into the car cigarette lighter, but to no avail, it simply tells me in the top corner of the screen that it is Not Charging.

I am going to cut this completely short and get it online whilst I still have some charge left.

I will investigate the problem in the morning.

The picture is the garden this afternoon. It is gorgeous in the sunshine.

  1. I am constantly amazed how when you have nothing to say, because nothing has happened, that you still manage to do it so entertainingly. I’m afraid that in your shoes I would just say “Nowt today!”
I am equally amazed that you have discovered that the two computer keys work when you turn it upside down. It isn’t the most obvious tack to take, but it should certainly be included in the “Mac for Dummies” books. But perhaps not in the Oldies version. All that bending down and round could do serious back injuries.
    Keep up the good work
