Mummy has gone to bed. It has been a very busy few days and she has just collapsed after all of the work. This post is being brought to you by the girlies, Lucy and Elise (Oliver’s girlfriend). Two sentences into this blog post and despite having two working on this, we are already struggling. It turns out that neither of us have attended Cambridge and one of us is pretty drunk, so any grammar errors will need to be forgiven.

So, the day started at roughly 11AM when Charlie and crew woke everyone up. We were all a bit startled after a long night of being social but it was lovely to see them, especially since we had forgotten to give them some of their presents yesterday.

Everyone gathered downstairs in the living room to open up presents from Father Christmas.  We had some tea and a light breakfast of yesterday’s leftovers. We started doing a jigsaw, mum went and had a nap while the rest of us worked tirelessly on the puzzle. Elise is very good at puzzles and made significantly more progress than everyone else. (Lucy wrote that not me, so you know it’s true).

This passed the time quickly and before we knew it, it was time for dinner at the Indian restaurant (as per tradition). The dogs stared at us sadly and whined as we left, so we had to distract them with the leftovers from the goose. The restaurant was lovely as always, and it was nice to not have to clean up afterwards. We had some nice conversation about job interviews and plans for the New Year, before going back home with full stomachs to open the rest of the presents and watch a film.

We had originally planned to watch Oppenheimer, however we remembered it was 3 hours long, and by this point it was 8PM and we felt it was too heavy of a task to undertake as we were all getting very tired already. So, we decided to watch ‘The Great Escaper’ featuring Michael Caine. It was very good, I believe everyone enjoyed it, but it was very sad.

We are now frantically looking at last year’s Christmas blog post to figure out what to say next. It is essentially everything we have said here, but better. One of the cats has joined us to help, but she has also not attended Cambridge.

All in all, it has been a slightly uneventful day. Most of us have just been recovering from an incredibly busy year. However, even if there was something terribly exciting happening today I think we would both fail to recount it successfully.

It has been a lovely Christmas with fantastic company. Let’s hope next year is just as good.
