Just a few words because it is half past three in the morning.
I am only just awake.
It has been a splendid evening, filled with a visit from an old school friend whom I have barely seen in the intervening years, and so there was a very lot of talking to be done.
She has become a successful businesswoman in the meantime, running her own business and travelling all over the place.
I run my own business and travel all over the place as well, although I am not sure that I could reasonably be described as successful, unless your criterion for success was ‘isn’t overdrawn much’. I did not think I had better go into too much detail about my own employment activities.
To add to the sociability of a very pleasant evening, Oliver’s very nice girlfriend arrived as well. She is staying for several days, and I could not be bothered to attempt such mass catering, so we all went to the Indian for dinner, where we ate massive amounts of curry and poppadoms, and secretly I missed Mark, who is very useful for finishing off any curry that I can’t quite manage to eat.
Oliver and his girlfriend buzzed off upstairs to watch a film, and we sat in the living room and talked.
We talked until just now.
It has been a very splendid distraction from the Advent calendars, which are almost done. Three more went in the post this afternoon.
It is no good. My eyes are closing.
I will have to wish you a good night.
Probably you are asleep already.
How very sensible.
